Join us beside the majestic River Spey for a range of fun and interactive activities and discover more about our beautiful river (it’s the perfect spot for a picnic!).

Staff from the Spey Catchment Initiative and Spey Fishery Board are hosting a range of family fun on the stunning Spey riverside.

OUR RIVERSIDE HUB

Join us on the banks of the River Spey where our staff will be on hand for informal chats and to answer questions on a range of topics including Atlantic salmon, water invertebrates, conservation, wildlife protection and fly fishing. Plus, we will also have a range of interesting fishery management and conservation equipment on display to look at and try out.

We will also be joined by James Symonds from the Scottish Invasive Species Initiative who will be bringing along a raft of invasive species fighting equipment and would love to have a chat and answer any questions you might have.

OUR ACTIVITIES

River Dipping: 10:30 – 13:00

Get your wellies on and come and have a go at river dipping. A chance to get a close up view of the fascinating variety of mini creatures that live in our rivers and burns.

Suitable for adults and children. DROP IN – NO BOOKING NEEDED

Fly Fishing Taster Session: 12:00 – 14:30

Come along and try your hand at fly fishing on the banks of the River Spey – one of the most famous fly fishing rivers in the world.

Learn from the best as our expert anglers show you the ropes before giving you a go. You’ll be casting a  will be on hand to give a demonstration and to help you learn the art of casting. Each session will last approximately 30 minutes

Guided Tour: Visit to Delliefure Burn floodplain restoration project 13:30 – 14:30

Join us on a farm a few miles from Grantown and learn about the incredible work carried out by the Spey Catchment Initiative’s to improve this small, modified burn and re-connect it to its flood plain.

Transport to site by car provided then short walk on rough ground. Approx. 1 hour duration. Max 8 people. BOOKING NEEDED (use the link below).
